Rice Water for Hair fall and regrowth !

Hello Sunshine,

Today i will be talking to all you unicorns about a magic ingredient that will not only tackle the problem of hair fall but also make your hair grow faster. Many people swear by this remedy and it has worked wonders for them.

I myself have been suffering from extreme hair fall for almost over an year, after trying all sorts of remedies and even medication. I tried this one and this was a game changer.

YES! you guessed it right, RICE WATER, the magic potion.

Where did rice water come from?

A village located in china called Huangluo, where there are said to live real life Rapunzel. There live women from the Yao ethnics, and they get their name from their traditional red attire. Something that really stands out about this village is that the women of these village have the most beautifully long and luscious hair.

They have been using, for generations, rice water to rinse their hair off. Their hair length is recorded in meters. And they all have beautiful hair that you and i wish to have.

How does Rice water works?

Rice grains have proteins that are filled with amino acids, that are said to help in the regeneration of the hair and also makes your hair grow a lot faster. It also contains vitamin B, C, and E which also help in hair growth.

When the rice is mixed with the water and let to sit overnight, all the goodness is released from the rice grains to the water. The water will give your hair a beautiful smooth and shiny finish. The rice water also has a lot of antioxidants which eventually will reach your hair and work its charm! It also helps in reducing split ends. All the carbohydrates will help strengthen the roots and follicle of your hair.

According to research this magic potion is said to reduce surface friction and also increase hair elasticity, which makes the hair break less. This will also protect your hair from further damage.

How to make rice water

Rice water can be made in several different ways. Out of which i have tried two ways, which i will be sharing with you all today.

1.Soaking

The first way, and also my preferred way of using it, is soaking the rice in water. It is my preferred way because it is a lot easier for me compared to the other ways that i have tried using rice water.

For this method you will need:
  • 1/2-1 cup of uncooked rice
  • 2-3 cups of water
  • A closed container
  • Strainer
  • spray or squeeze bottle if required
First take your rice and thoroughly wash them so that there are no impurities. Transfer the rice into your container and fill it half way. Then either take a spoon, use your hands or close the lid to give the rice and water a good shake for a minute, so that all the nutrients can be released into the water. Fill the rest of the container and give it one last mix. Close the lid and let the rice and water sit for a good 20-24 hours. This will allow the water to ferment a little bit. However if you leave it in for longer it can smell a little bad. For that you can use essential oils. But i suggest not keeping it for more than 24 hours. I mostly soak it in the morning and use it the next morning. Give it another good mix before using.

How to use it?

Shampoo and condition your hair like you normally would. Using your hand squeeze as much water as you can from your hair. Now, you can either use a spray bottle or a squeeze bottle for easy application. I just transfer it into another container and pour it onto my scalp slowly. After taking all the water out, take the rice water and slowly start pouring it onto your scalp, covering every part. Massage your scalp as you go. Let the water sit in your hair for a good 10 minutes or more. You can leave you hair like that but since the water contains starch it might leave you hair a tad bit sticky. So, i suggest you rinse you hair with normal water ever so slightly.

And VOILA! There is your rinse done.

2. Boiling

Another method of using rice water is by boiling it. There is no particular reason as to why i do not like using this method and also there is not much difference in the earlier way of using it. But in no way is it less efficient.

For this you will need:
  • 1/2-1 cup of uncooked rice
  • 3-4 cups of water
  • strainer
  • Spray or squeeze bottle if needed
Start by rinsing the rice to remove any dirt. For this method you will need to take some extra amount of water as some water will evaporate in the process of boiling the rice. Boil the rice like you normally would. Strain the rice and use the concentrated liquid just like you use the soaked rice water.

This remedy has been around for years and years and it has never failed to work its charm on any type of hair. The only thing to keep in mind is that all this process requires consistency and patience. As it might take some time to reverse the damage that your hair has had and initial regrowth.
I highly recommend everyone reading to surely give this a try and religiously follow this for some time and see the results for yourself.

This will be it for today, do let me know how it worked for you and feel free to ask any questions if you wish, till then take care of yourself and your hair. I will see you in my next blog for more exciting things.

Thank you ❤️
